Another superb offering by Vancouver’s A-N-D, the otherworldly Iris pendant borrows the idea for its textured glass from a surprising source: the fluorescent light diffuser panels found on countless office ceilings throughout the late 20th century. Despite its mundane origins, there’s nothing humdrum about this customizable design, which looks like a hovering, glowing embryo. Illumination is provided by an LED source placed inside a lens that can be customized in four configurations, each offering a different look and distinct lighting profile. Likewise, thanks to a machined aluminum slider, the apex of the pendant’s suspension wires can be adjusted to suit a variety of spaces.
