Identifying an exciting new window of opportunity, Pella’s hardware allows select awning and casement windows to be opened with the slide of a knob, rather than the crank of a handle. Integrated into a window’s jamb or sill for a modern, unobtrusive look, the clever control connects to a ball bearing and Kevlar-reinforced belt to open windows in a smooth, continuous motion. As the knob is quite easy to grip and requires little physical effort to slide up or down, it’s particularly well-suited to individuals with arthritis.

It is the latest iteration in a more-than-10-year collaboration between pre-eminent designer Philippe Starck and German porcelain sanitaryware manufacturer Duravit (the first version also earned an AZ Award, in 2011).
