Each year, AZURE works with local and international designers and partners to create a memorable experience. We are proud of everyone who collaborates with us to make the celebration – whether in-person or online – a stupendous success.
2024 Winners Reveal
On Friday, June 21, AZURE celebrated the winners and finalists of the 14th annual AZ Awards. The event gathered architects, designers, urbanists, artists and more for one glorious occasion. Setting the mood, MC Lucia Cesaroni – an opera singer who has performed on the world’s most lauded stages – serenaded the crowd. And our Guest of Honour, the landscape architect Julie Bargmann, spoke of the ideals that she returns to again and again in her groundbreaking projects.

2023 Winners Reveal
Our 13th annual AZ Awards program is a landmark vintage. Drawing over 1,000 submissions from around the world, the 2023 edition celebrates more winners than ever, with a record-breaking 26 AZ Awards winners lauded alongside 57 Awards of Merit. For the first time since 2019, we’ve also been able to fête our winners and finalists with a gala at Toronto’s Evergreen Brick Works.

2022 Winners Reveal
In June, the 2022 AZ Awards Winners Reveal introduced the inspiring and innovative projects, products and concepts that were awarded by this year’s Jury.
The 24 winners were selected from an impressive field of submissions received from 43 countries and will receive the 2022 AZ Awards trophy [link to the Trophy page], a stunning NFT titled AZZY designed by juror Garth Roberts.
2021 Winners Reveal
In 2021, winners were revealed online in an exclusive showcase on the all-new AZ Awards platform. Thousands of design professionals joined in from around the world and explored the Awards by category in their preferred order and at their own pace, and experienced the Winners Reveal by scrolling through a wealth of beautiful project images, videos and more.
2020 AZ Awards Online Gala
AZURE celebrated the 10th annual AZ Awards in our first-ever virtual AZ Awards Gala.
The online gala – available for viewing on AZURE’s website, Youtube and Facebook channels – featured special appearances by 10 All-Stars from around the world, including Karim Rashid, Yves Béhar, Martha Schwartz and Nader Tehrani, who shared their words of congratulations and inspiration. There was even a signature cocktail fashioned by none other than Yabu Pushelberg! AZURE thanks all the friends, supporters and viewers who made the online celebration of finalists and winners a success.
2019 AZ Awards Gala
The ninth annual AZ Awards winners and finalists were celebrated in a unique al fresco environment at Toronto’s Evergreen Brick Works. Attendees experienced a site-specific, one-night-only installation created by LeuWebb Projects, and celebrated excellence in design in the company of Guest of Honour, legendary landscape architect Martha Schwartz.
2018 AZ Awards Gala
Winners of the 2018 AZ Awards were unveiled and applauded by top talents from the local and international architecture and design communities at Toronto’s iconic Evergreen Brick Works. Attendees got a chance to mix and mingle with Guest of Honour Winy Maas of MVRDV and some of the winners and finalists who flew in from as far away as Austria, Mexico and Japan and.
2017 AZ Awards Gala
Chandeliers made from upcycled plastic bottles, an elaborate paper installation and sleek steel trophies designed by Philippe Malouin upped the wow factor at the 2017 AZ Awards Gala. The local and international design community joined Guest of Honour, Italian architect Massimiliano Fuksus to celebrate the seventh edition of the Awrads.
2016 AZ Awards Gala
Hundreds of industry notables flooded Toronto’s Evergreen Brick Works to celebrate the 2016 AZ Awards winners with Guest of Honour, acclaimed Italian designer Gaetano Pesce. Attendees came from as far as China, Belgium and Austria in the hopes of claiming one of this year’s trophies, which were designed by Omer Arbel of Bocci. The prelude and postlude of the ceremony were live piano performances incorporated into a large-scale sculpture by Toronto’s Castor.
2015 AZ Awards Gala
Karim Rashid and hundreds of other architects and designers from around the globe joined AZURE at the 2015 AZ Awards Gala to celebrate the year’s best of the best. Guests gathered beneath a massive installation that transformed Toronto’s Evergreen Brick Works for the occasion. This impressive sculpture was crafted from orange safety fencing by Toronto’s DTAH – the same architectural firm that oversaw the renovation of the historic Evergreen Brick Works over the past decade.
2014 AZ Awards Gala
Guests cheered for the recipients of the AZ Awards trophy, People’s Choice favourites and Awards of Merit in the company of Guest of Honour Karim Rashid. The beautiful Evergreen Brick Works was further decked out for the night with a stunning display of inflated white bags, created by Mason Studio of Toronto.
2013 AZ Awards Gala
Even the torrential downpour couldn’t keep design and architecture professionals and aficionados from gathering at the Evergreen Brick Works in Toronto to learn who would be a 2013 AZ Awards Winner. The trophies, which combined Caesarstone’s Piatra Grey and carved baltic birch ply, were created by artists and craftsmen Dave Milum of Accents of Distinction and Scott Eunson.
2012 AZ Awards Gala
From as far away as India, Mexico and the Netherlands, design and architecture professionals and aficionados convened at the Thompson Hotel to learn who would take home an AZ trophy. MC and CBC News anchor Diana Swain kicked off the night by thanking all who entered, as well as the competition’s sponsors.
2011 AZ Awards Gala
Winners of the first edition of the AZ Awards were revealed in a private ceremony and exhibit preview at Harbourfront Centre in Toronto on June 16 with the top players in Canada’s architectural and design community in attendance.
